WELL KNOWN IRISH FAMILY LAWYER:
Jennifer O’Brien established Jennifer O’Brien Solicitors at Irish Family Law Chambers having previously headed up the family law team at Mason Hayes & Curran (incorporating Arthur O Hagan), where she was partner having commenced her career at McCann FitzGerald, where she worked on the family law team for a further 8 years. Jennifer is a well-known Irish family lawyer with over 20 years of experience in separation, divorce & non-marital matters with an emphasis on cases concerning business, trusts, investments, farming and other assets. She also advises on matters pertaining to Civil Partnership & Cohabitation.
COLLABORATIVE LAWYER & RESOLUTION MEDIATOR:
Jennifer has acted in a number of leading cases before the Courts and is adept at negotiation of complex agreements, avoiding litigation where possible. She is also a practising Collaborative Lawyer and a Resolution trained Mediator (all issues), where the aim is negotiation of a reasonable settlement, minimising conflict and assisting families in creation of positive post-separation parenting.
INTERNATIONAL FAMILY LAWYER:
Jennifer is an experienced international family lawyer handling cases concerning recognition of foreign divorce, child abduction, re-location applications & enforcement of orders throughout the member states and elsewhere. She also handles Child Law matters and advises on reputation issues concerning the internet and other media.
LECTURING & ASSOCIATIONS:
Jennifer lectures frequently to members of the profession at the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland, the Family Lawyers’ Association & the DSBA. She is former chair of the Family Law & Minors
Committee, Dublin Solicitors Bar Association, a member of the Family Lawyers’ Association, a member of the Association of Collaborative Practitioners and an Associate member of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association of England and Wales).
Jennifer is a fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers and chaired the Education Committee for the IAML Singapore Meeting, September 2012. She also co-authored the Family Law: A Global Guide from Practical Law, 4th edition 2018 and International Relocation of Children, 2018, both published by Thomson Reuters.
